Indore: Gripped in patriotic fervor, city schools are gearing up to celebrate Independence Day with various activities.
The students are busy with rehearsals as patriotic songs and drum beats played by school bands reverberated inside the campus.
This year Independence Day celebration is not a one day affair for many schools of the city. A number of schools have lined up pre and post events and activities for students taking the patriotic fervor to another level.
"We have planned various pre and post-Independence Day activities for students. The students will take part in slogan writing, poetry competition. The students will also enact and showcase how freedom fighters would have been in present time," said Poonam Saini, principal of GD Goenka Public School. While some schools preferred to celebrate I-Day in the traditional manner as they have celebrated in previous year's wherein flag hoisting will be the main event.
At St Raphael's Girls HS School, students these days are seen rehearsing for march-past on drum beats trying to bring coordination amongst the lot.
"Like every year, flag hoisting will be done by the chief guest and the selected students will take part in the march-past saluting the national flag. After which an inter-house patriotic song and dance competition will be organized for the students," said Sr Preethi Thomas, principal of St Raphael's.
While in Delhi Public School apart from regular celebration on Independence Day, the school has planned to acknowledge the hard work of their workers in the school.
"We have made sure students enjoy various activities on the run-up to Independence day. Various cultural events will take place," said Asha Nair, headmistress, DPS.
