Indore: Crime branch arrested two men and seized over 780 boxes of liquor worth Rs 30 lakh that were being transported illegally to Gujarat through Dhar on Wednesday.
Crime branch DCP Nimish Agarwal said that, they received information that a truck, carrying illegal liquor, was parked on Pithampur road in Rau. Acting on the information, a team was rushed to the spot and two — identified as
Vikram Chouhan, resident of Atavada village and Vishal Thakur, resident of Trilokkhurd village — were nabbed.
Agarwal said that when they were asked about the license to transport liquor, they were not able to produce any.
As many as 410 boxes of whiskey, 370 boxes of beer and 600 boxes of liquor was seized from the truck. In all 780 boxes of Indian made foreign liquor worth Rs 30 lakh was seized from them, the official said.
The accused booked and arrested under relevant sections of Excise act and investigations were initiated against them. Police said that the accused are being questioned about from where they procured the liquor and to whom were they delivering it. The DCP said that more arrests are expected to follow in the case.TNN
