MBA in tech management, two new BTech courses to begin at DAVV’s IET this session

Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya’s Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) is set to introduce its first-ever MBA programme from the 2026-27 academic session, marking a major academic expansion nearly three decades after the institute was established in 1996.

Along with the specialised MBA course, IET has also received approval to start two new BTech programmes from the same session.

The new MBA in technology management has been approved with an intake capacity of 120 seats. Officials said the programme has been designed for engineering graduates and admissions will be conducted through Common Management Admission Test and Common University Entrance Test merit. However, considering it is the inaugural year, the institute may begin with 60 seats initially.

IET director Pratosh Bansal said the new programmes have been introduced in response to industry trends and student demand. “The MBA is a specialised management course focused on technology management. There has been consistent demand for such a programme among engineering graduates. Similarly, the two new BTech branches have also been started based on student interest and future employment opportunities,” he said.

The institute has also secured approval for BTech programmes in industrial production engineering and electrical & electronics engineering, each with an intake of 60 seats. Admissions to these courses will be conducted through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) counselling process, similar to other engineering programmes offered by the institute.

With addition of the two new branches, the number of BTech programmes at IET will increase from seven to nine. At present, the institute offers courses in computer science, information technology, electronics and telecommunication, electronics instrumentation and mechanical engineering among others.

Around 2,500 students are currently studying on the IET campus and the number is expected to rise to nearly 3,000 after the introduction of the new courses.

DAVV is also planning a wider academic expansion across its departments. University officials said permission has already been granted to launch nearly 10 new courses in different teaching departments as part of its strategy to diversify professional and industry-oriented education programmes.
