INDORE: State minister for culture and tourism Usha Thakur seems to have stoked a fresh row after a video of her comment that "people seek health benefits from Tantya Mama Bhil's tabiz" went viral on social media on Thursday.
The Mhow MLA was talking to mediapersons on Wednesday about arrangements for 'Balidan Diwas' (death anniversary) of Tantya Bhil in Patalpani village where over a lakh people are expected to visit amid fear of spread of the Covid-19 virus.
"There is no restriction. I have strong faith and belief that nothing will happen. Everybody is healthy...... You will be surprised to know that people seek 'health benefits' from Tantya Mama's tabiz (amulet). There is infinite faith (among people for Tantya Mama) and we are going to salute such a freedom fighter. There will be no disturbance from the Nature and God," the minister said.
After Thakur's comment went viral, MPCC media coordinator Narendra Saluja posted a tweet: "After the statement of the culture minister Usha Thakur, the government should remove all restrictions and guidelines for corona and the necessity of vaccination should also be abolished". In another tweet, he said: "Usha ji should now distribute 'Shivraj Tabiz' as according to minister Kamal Patel, it's the rebirth of (Tantya Bhil as) Shivraj ji".
Thakur could not be contacted for comments on her controversial statement.
