1,675 RTI cases cleared each month in Rajasthan, says CIC

JAIPUR: Cases related to Right to Information (RTI) are being speedily disposed of through special court camps in the state, said chief information commissioner (CIC) D B Gupta on Saturday.
“The commission is disposing of 1,675 cases on an average every month. Under the new system, applicants can able to register cases online. Besides, all the correspondence by the commission is now being sent by the speed post,” said Gupta while speaking after a special camp related to Jaipur Municipal Corporations here on Saturday.

He said that special camps were earlier held by the commission for the disposal of cases related to JDA in September and the school education department in December. He said that in the coming days, appeals and complaints would be disposed of by organizing camps at the divisional level as well.
Gupta was hearing matters related to JMC Greater and Heritage in the special court camp in the commission premises on Saturday. He said that there are 656 cases involving both the corporations, out of which 65 cases have been heard in the court and the remaining cases will be heard on May 28.
CIC said that the commission has started the system of taking complaints online due to which the number of appeals and cases is definitely increasing, but the general public is also getting a lot of relief. He said that at the time of the present team, there were a total of more than 18,000cases.
