3 hurt as car hits school van in Jaipur

Jaipur: Three schoolchildren and a driver sustained minor injuries after a speeding Toyota Innova rammed into a school van in Jaipur’s Mangyawas area Thursday, police said.

According to officials, the accident occurred on Swarn Path under Narayan Vihar police station limits.

Police said the impact was so severe that the school van went out of control and crashed into an electricity pole by the roadside.

Officials added that the collision shifted the pole nearly one foot from its original position.

Three children and the driver were inside the van at the time of the accident.

Police said no electric current spread through the vehicle despite the collision with the pole, averting a potentially fatal incident.

Panic broke out at the spot after the crash, and local residents helped shift the injured children to Dhanvantari Hospital for treatment.

Officials said the van was on its way to a private school in Mansarovar when the accident took place.

Further investigation is under way.
