Ahead of local body polls, Ajaey Kumar takes charge as Raj BJP org secy
Jaipur: Rajasthan BJP’s newly appointed organisation general secretary Ajaey Kumar took charge on Saturday, with party leaders flagging the panchayat and urban local body elections due later this year as his first major organisational test.
After arriving in Jaipur, Kumar visited the Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple before assuming charge at the BJP state headquarters. He then held a meeting with state office-bearers to review ongoing organisational work and set priorities.
The party did not disclose details of the meeting, but sources said it focused on expanding the organisation, strengthening booth-level structures and preparing for the upcoming elections.
“The focus was on further strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level and ensuring booth committees remain active and effective,” a BJP leader familiar with the discussions said.
Within the party, the local body and panchayat polls are being seen as a key political test ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections.
Party insiders said Kumar’s appointment comes as the BJP looks to improve coordination between the Bhajan Lal Sharma government and the party organisation as the government nears the midway point of its term.
“A key priority is to ensure better synergy between the govt and the organisation so that welfare schemes and policy initiatives reach people effectively,” a senior BJP functionary said.
Sources said Kumar is expected to focus on booth management, cadre mobilisation and membership expansion, areas he has handled in organisational roles outside Rajasthan.
“The message is clear — strengthen the booth, strengthen the organisation. The leadership wants a more active grassroots network before the local elections,” another party leader said.
