KOTA: In yet another incident of misbehaving with a government official in the state, a BJP worker in Kota on Saturday forced an assistant engineer (AEN) of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPNL) in Mahaveer Nagar to publicly apologise holding his ears for allegedly cutting down trees in one of the city’s green field area. He also disrupted the maintenance work.
The video clip of the incident also went viral in the evening.

On Saturday noon, while the assistant engineer of the Nigam, Chetan Vaishnav from 132KV in Mahaveer Nagar along with other employees was engaged in trimming extended twigs of the trees in a green belt area in front of the Fire Brigade office in Shrinathpuram that were causing trouble to power lines passing through them, BJP worker Naman Sharma along with a few supporters reached there and accused the engineer of cutting down trees.
Sharma asked him to stop the work immediately and asked him to take away the machines and equipment from the spot. The video clip of the incident showed Sharma pulling engineer’s arms to the ears to seek apology publically and to swear not to repeat the act.
Speaking on the issue, superintendent engineer of the Nigam O P Sharma said he was briefed of the incident on Saturday evening and he directed the executive engineer Rajiv Sharma to probe into the matter and lodge a report with the police accordingly.
However, RK Puram police and Mahaveer Nagar police denied having received any report in the matter till late Saturday evening.
