The daily Covid infection count has been increasing over the past few days, showing that the virus has been spreading in the state at a rapid pace.
In a private hospital of Jaipur, two deaths were reported out of 19 deaths in the state. “A 101-year-old woman died as she was brought to the hospital for age related illness, but she incidentally tested positive for Covid, while another elderly person who had bacterial pneumonia has also died but he was incidentally found infected with the virus,” said Dr Mala Airun, director medical operations, Fortis Hospital.
The state had 209 active cases on April 1 but they have now increased to 2,058. Except three districts, Barmer, Jalore and Karauli, all the 30 districts of the state have now active cases.
In past 24 hours, Jaipur reported 132 cases, highest in the state, followed by Udaipur (51), Ajmer (36), Dungarpur (31), Alwar (26), Pali (22) and Jodhpur (19), while 102 other persons were tested positive in 18 districts. Eight districts did not report even a single case in 24 hours were Sawai Madhopur, Karauli, Jalore, Hanumangarh, Dausa, Baran, Barmer and Bhilwara.
