JAIPUR: A French couple, Gildas Clouet and Lydiane Clouet will soon approach a court requesting proper investigation into the reasons behind their daughter Anne's mysterious death in Udaipur in March 2010, according to their lawyer.
Anne Clouet (23) was found dead in a hotel room in the Walled City here. The post-mortem report said that the death occurred due to drug overdose.
However, a final postmortem in France revealed that several of her organs like kidneys, heart, intestine and uterus were missing. This, despite the French embassy's instruction to the medical jurist at Udaipur on minimal damage to the body.
"My clients are planning to approach the court demanding an inquiry by the state police's CB-CID as they are not satisfied with the probe conducted by the local police," the advocate for the couple Ritesh Ratan Vyas told TOI.
Anne had arrived in Udaipur on February 24 with her friend Annelise Archen, a student of architecture in France. Both stayed in Hotel Nai Haveli in Jagdish Chowk area, in separate rooms. During their stay, they came in contact with Dhruv Sharma, a resident of Bhatiyani Chohatta area and Ali Hussain, a resident of Mulla Talai area. The Clouets now suspect foul play.
The couple was in touch with the French embassy in New Delhi following the case. But even after 18 months, several questions remained unanswered, they said.
"We are considering to lodge a complaint against the medical board in Udaipur who carried out the post-mortem. Despite written request to cause minimum damage to the body, several organs including heart and liver are missing," said Ritesh.
He added that the role of Dhruv Sharma has also not been investigated properly by the local police.
Meanwhile, police claimed that Dhruv Sharma and Ali (unauthorized escorts) had taken Anne and her friend Annelise Archen to Pushkar between February 17 and 23. Dhruv had criminal cases against him and was a drug addict. "During preliminary investigation, we came to know that Dhruv was known for duping tourists," said Tejraj Singh, additional SP, Udaipur.
Anne's father said she had called him two days before she died saying Dhruv had proposed to her which she had rejected.
Ritesh said that if the case will be handed over to the CID-CB, a fresh investigation into Dhruv's role will be launched.
"We have come to know that there are many contradictions in the police investigation. We have related documents," claimed Ritesh.
