IPS officers’ love story: Krishna Kumar Bishnoi and Anshika Verma to tie the knot on 29 March in Jodhpur
JAISALMER: The love story of two dynamic IPS officers—Krishna Kumar (K.K.) Bishnoi, a native of Barmer district in Rajasthan and an IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre currently serving as SP in Sambhal, and Bareilly SP Anshika Verma—will culminate in marriage on 29 March in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
The wedding celebrations will begin on 27 March in Dhorimanna, Barmer, the hometown of K.K. Bishnoi. Traditional rituals will start there, including the customary “Ghee Pilane” ceremony marking the beginning of the festivities. On 28 March, the Barat Sabha will be held in Dhorimanna, followed by the wedding procession to Jodhpur on 29 March, where the marriage ceremony will take place. A reception will be hosted on 30 March at Lahariya Resort in Jodhpur.
The union, connecting Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, has generated considerable interest in both states and is counted among the notable IPS couples of Uttar Pradesh.
K.K. Bishnoi hails from Dhorimanna, Barmer district, while Anshika Verma is from the Civil Lines area of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The couple first met in 2023 during their postings in Gorakhpur. At that time, Bishnoi was serving as SP City, while Verma was an under-training IPS officer. Their acquaintance gradually developed into a relationship.
Bishnoi secured All India Rank 174 in his second attempt at the 2018 UPSC Civil Services Examination. He graduated from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and earned a master’s degree from the Paris School of International Affairs, France. He left a high-paying job at the United Nations Trade Centre, worth around Rs 30 lakh per year, to return to India and serve the country. He is currently serving as SP in Sambhal district, where he is known for his administrative efficiency.
The couple informed their families once their relationship matured, and with family consent, the marriage was finalised. Anshika Verma confirmed the wedding, stating that while no formal ceremony has taken place yet, some family rituals will be held in Sambhal towards the end of the month, followed by the main wedding in Rajasthan.
The engagement will be held in Sambhal on 25 March, with only close family members in attendance. Bishnoi’s brother, Bhajanlal Bishnoi, a Rajasthan Administrative Service officer posted in Jodhpur, said that the Sangeet and Haldi ceremonies will take place in Dhorimanna, Barmer, while the wedding and reception will be in Jodhpur. Most guests have been invited to the reception, while residents of Dhorimanna and nearby areas will be welcome to the local village celebrations.
