JMC-H mayor's husband held with 2 others while accepting Rs 2L as bribe

An Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) team arrested Sushil Gurjar, the husband of the mayor Munesh Gurjar of Jaipur Municipal Corporation Heritage, on Friday while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh for issuing a land deed to a person.

JAIPUR: An Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) team arrested Sushil Gurjar, the husband of the mayor Munesh Gurjar of Jaipur Municipal Corporation Heritage, on Friday while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh for issuing a land deed to a person.The ACB, which raided his residence in Adarsh Colony on Hatwara Road in Hasanpura, arrested two middlemen in the case. It also seized Rs 41.55 lakh from the house, a file of the land deed, and bank passbooks with details of nearly Rs 50 lakh in deposits during the search which continued till late in the evening. In a separate raid, ACB also recovered Rs 8.95 lakh from the residence of one of the arrested middleman, Narayan Singh.Hemant Priyadarshi, officiating director general, ACB, said a complainant had gone to the special investigating wing (SIW) of the ACB and accused Sushil of demanding a bribe. "He stated that the accused Sushil asked for Rs 2 lakh through two middleman Naryan Singh and Anil Dubey," Priyadarshi said. Based on the complaint, a trap was laid and ACB teams raided the house of Munesh Gurjar at 8 pm on Friday. Anti-graft agency recovers Rs 42L from Sushil's residence Jaipur: "The accused, identified as Sushil Gurjar, and two middlemen, Narayan Singh and Anil Dubey, were arrested by our team," said additional SP Lalit Sharma.
The ACB later searched the house of Sushil and recovered Rs 41.55 lakh as well as Rs 8.95 lakh from the house of Narayan Singh in Nehru Nagar in Hasanpura locality. "We also seized the file of the land deed which was with Sushil who had promised to get it cleared," Sharma said.A case under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been lodged against the three accused who are being interrogated.
