The police are trying to identify the murder on the basis of footmarks.
According to police, the boy, identified as Jesram, was a resident of Bhaton Ki Basti in Bikaner's Bajrang Dhora area. "The boy was playing near his house when he went missing on Monday evening. The family kept searching for the body for few hours, but when they could not trace him anywhere his father Devaram registered a missing persons report with Bichhwal police station," said the officer.
Police said, the family members were looking for the boy everywhere. They realized that a place near their house had been dug up recently. Someone had stacked bricks and other construction material on it. They informed the police about their finding following which a dog squad was rushed to the spot.
When the place was dug up, the police found the body on Wednesday. It was rushed to PBM Hospital where it was kept in the mortuary for a postmortem examination.
"There were not major injury marks on the body. Prima facie it seems the boy was murdered. Further investigation in this regard is going on," said the officer.
Senior police officers, including acting SP Devendra Bishoi, visited the spot, but the police are yet clueless. "The footmarks may help us crack the case," said a police officer.
