Raj to start pilot project to develop prefabricated anganwadi centres

Jaipur: The state govt is planning to start a pilot project to develop prefabricated anganwadi centres, starting with those centres that are being operated from rented spaces.

In a departmental review meeting Thursday, a presentation was delivered before Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, during which various designs for prefabricated model anganwadis were discussed.

The action plan for these prefabricated model anganwadis involves upgrading existing centres into “model centres” by utilising Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to incorporate modern amenities such as smart classrooms, kitchen gardens, child-friendly furniture and toy banks.

The deputy chief minister directed that a pilot project could be undertaken to convert rented anganwadi buildings and other dilapidated structures across the state into prefabricated model anganwadis with the support of CSR.

“CSR support could play a pivotal role in this endeavour, and CSR workshops must be organised to encourage corporations and industries to extend their cooperation for this cause,” Kumari said.

Emphasising the importance of training for anganwadi workers, the deputy chief minister said, “Regular training is essential for these workers to effectively deliver early childhood education, utilise play-based learning methodologies and employ digital tools.”

In the meeting, she issued directives to work with unwavering resolve to transform Rajasthan into a model state for women and child development.

Poonam, secretary for women and child development, apprised the deputy chief minister that the department is demonstrating outstanding performance at the national level. She said that Rajasthan ranks among the leading states in the rankings for Family Registration System on the Poshan Tracker app, as well as for Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiatives.
