KOTA: ACB, Kota (Rural) arrested a project manager of
Rajasthan State Gas Limited (RSGL) posted in Kota and a tout on Saturday night from Srinathpuram area after he accepted a bribe of Rs 87,000 from contractor of a gas pipeline company. The accused manager, through the tout, had demanded Rs 1.37 lakh for sanction of the bills and releasing amount of Rs 42 lakh, however, the bribe amount was later settled at Rs 87,000 following negotiation.
"RSGL project manager, identified as Atul Shukla, a native of UP and posted in Kota, was arrested along with a tout identified as Vishnu Saini (29), a resident of Kota city, after he accepted a bribe of Rs 87,000 in Srinathpuram area late on Saturday night," ASP, ACB Kota (Rural)," Prerna Shekhawat said.
"The accused project manager had demanded bribe of Rs 1,37,000 for sanction of work bills and release of amount of Rs 42 lakh to the firm of pipeline contractor, however, following negotiation, the bribe amount was settled at Rs 87,000," she added.
"The pipeline contractor approached ACB, Kota (Rural) on Friday and lodged a complaint in this connection following which verification of the complaint was carried out on the same day and the trap was planned on Saturday," she further said.
Shukla was staying in a rented accommodation in Kota city, she added.
"Tout Vishnu Saini called the gas pipeline contractor on Saturday evening at Srinathpuram area where he was caught red-handed around 8.30pm with the bribe of Rs 87,000. The project manager was also held from his place subsequently," the ACB ASP said.
The two accused would be produced before ACB court later on Sunday, she added.
