JAIPUR: Sanjay Circle police Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old woman for allegedly blackmailing a city-based man and seized Rs 50,000 cash along with cheques of different amounts.
Sanjay Circle SHO Mohammad Shafiq Khan said the accused was identified as one Radha Saini, a native of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.
“We had received a complaint from a man that a woman was allegedly blackmailing him and demanded Rs 20 lakh by threatening to implicate him in a case,” he said.
According to Khan, the complainant, a former winner of a private modelling contest, sought help from police. Police claimed that the complainant had already given her Rs 5 to Rs 6 lakh in multiple tranches before.
Khan said the accused had been living in Jaipur for the past several months now, she was also part of a dance troupe. She had met the complainant about six years ago through a mutual friend. The man recently got married and Saini allegedly decided to blackmail him with many photos of them together. She recently told the complainant, as per Khan, that she needed Rs 20 lakh. She asked the complainant to manage the cash before she leaves for New Delhi.
She came to meet the complainant in a hotel where he handed her Rs 50,000 cash and different cheques. The police arrested her from the same hotel and brought him to the police station.
