Kailash Chandra Bishnoi, additional police commissioner (crime), said, "Two days after the incident, there was a tip-off that Fauji was staying somewhere in Pratap Nagar, Jaipur, before carrying out the crime. A special team was constituted, which conducted door-to-door surveys round-the-clock. But after a major effort, the team successfully reached Fauji's hideout in the Income Tax Colony."
"Her husband also has a criminal record with more than two dozen cases, including attempted murder, assault, and arms trafficking," police said.
During interrogation, Pooja revealed that Fauji, sent by Roni Rajput, had arrived at Pratap Nagar Chowpati from Hisar by taxi on November 28, 2023. From there, Samir and Pooja picked him up and brought him to their flat, said ADCP (West) Ram Singh Shekhawat, who led the special investigation team. "In the flat, there was another boy and girl living on rent. Samir shifted them to another room, and gave Fauji their room. Pooja prepared food and Fauji was served in his room," he said.
According to police, Samir connected Fauji to Rohit Godara and Virendra Charan of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. "On the day of the incident, Mahendra Kumar alias Samir showed Fauji a dozen pistols and a large quantity of cartridges. Fauji selected two pistols and two magazines for himself and an extra magazine for the other gunman," said Shekhawat.
During search of Samir's flat and premises, several vehicles, registration cards, Aadhaar and memory cards, evidence of operating for Bishnoi gang, were found. "Samir has escaped now with a stockpile of heavy weapons, and a search is underway," Shekhawat said.
