REASI/JAMMU: In a remarkable display of religious harmony, two Muslim residents of Kheral panchayat in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir have come forward to donate their land for the construction of a road connecting to a 500-year-old Hindu temple.

Residents Gulam Rasool and Gulam Mohammad from Kheral panchayat have generously donated four kanals of land to the panchayat. The estimated cost of the land is over one crore rupees, and a 1200-metre road with a 10-foot width will be constructed for the Gupt Kashi - Gouri Shankar temple in Kansi Patta village of Reasi district.

Authorities have mentioned that the road will be constructed soon using funds from the panchayat. Former panchayat member and farmer Gulam Rasool said that some individuals attempted to create discord in society by highlighting the road issue. "The temple didn't have any proper road. Some people had even run a hate campaign intending to create a rift," he added.

In order to protect communal harmony, a meeting was recently conducted involving panchayat members and revenue officials. In the meeting, the landowners Gulam Rasool and Gulam Mohammad agreed to donate some portions of their land for the road.

Additionally, preparations are being made for the renovation of the temple. The temple possesses additional land in the vicinity. The issue concerning the land has been raised to the District Development Commissioner of Reasi.
