JAMSHEDPUR: The Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan on Sunday announced the 'Marang Buru Bachao Bharat Yatra' from January 17 to galvanise the tribal communities from different states and rally them for their campaign to "free Marang Buru from the clutches of the Jains".
The ASA, said the Centre and the state governments are to be blamed for the injustice done to the millions of tribal communities by establishing the religious rights of the Jain community over Parasnath hills. "People in the government, both at the Centre and in the state, should know the religious importance of Marang Buru (Parasnath hills). What Ayodhya is to the Hindus and Vatican City is to the Christians, Marang Buru is to the tribals," ASA founder president and former MP Salkhan Murmu said.
The ASA has announced that awareness-cum-protest marches and rallies will be held across the state in the first leg of the yatra, beginning Tuesday. The programme will be held in Ranchi on January 18, Ramgarh on January 19, Hazaribag on January 20, Jamtara on January 21, Dumka on January 22, and Godda on January 23.
Murmu said, "The dates of the programme that are scheduled in the neighbouring states in the second phase will be announced soon"
On Saturday, he wrote a letter to President Droupadi Murmu, highlighting the concerns of the tribal communities following the January 5 notification of the Centre, whereby it stayed all tourist activities at the Sammed Shikharji atop the Parasnath hills.
