JAMSHEDPUR: Governor C P Radhakrishnan said he would talk to the state government to make sure government school students above Class 8 get egg and milk. The governor said that every child needs nutritious food for proper growth of the mind and body and he would see to it that students of Class 9 and above in the school get egg one day a week and milk twice every week.
The governor said this while interacting with the Class 9 girls of Kumar Vijay Pratap Singhdeo girls' government aided plus two school in Seraikela on Monday.
Midday meal scheme of the government is for the students up to Class 8 due to which the Class 9 and 10 students are missing it, students said. Further, the governor said that the state government is doing much to improve the quality of the education and the infrastructure of the schools. "Setting up of school of excellence initiative of the government is in that direction," the governor said.
Appealing to the students to take advantage of the state-sponsored facilities in getting better education, the governor told the students to set a target in life and consistently make sincere effort till they accomplish the goal.
The governor, who was on a day's visit to Seraikela-Kharswan district, held talks with villagers at Itakudar panchayat bhavan in Seraikela.
Recognising the praiseworthy role of the SHGs in transforming the lives of poor villagers in the remote areas of Jharkhand, the governor called on women folks, particularly the tribal women, to take the support and cooperation of the SHGs in transforming their lives for better. The governor said that he is touring far-off villages across the state to see that the schemes meant for the development of the common man reaches the last man in the row.
