2 SIs suspended after felicitation by criminal

Kanpur: Two sub-inspectors of police, seen in a viral video being honoured by an alleged criminal, were suspended by higher police authorities on Monday. The video of Barra police station’s Yadav market outpost in- harge Geeta Singh and an SI Bhup Singh went viral on the social media platforms on Sunday night, sparking outrage in the department. On Monday morning, DCP South Pramod Kumar suspended both the sub-inspectors and handed over the probe of the case to ADCP South, Ankita Sharma.In the video, Sandeep Pal, a resident of Chedi Singh Ka Purwa Barra -2, was seen felicitating Geeta Singh and Bhup Singh by presenting them shawls on the stage at an event. TOI, however, does not confirm the veracity of the video.
Sandeep Pal is an alleged history-sheeter and has nine cases registered against him under sections like Gambling Act, Goonda Act, assault, etc., at Barra police station and two cases under NDPS Act at Beconganj police station. DCP South Pramod Kumar said, “Both SIs, outpost in-charge Geeta Singh and sub-inspector Bhup Singh, have been suspended with immediate effect after video went viral. Further investigation with regard to this matter has been handed over to ADCP South Ankita Sharma.” tnn
