Courts dismisses anticipatory bail application of man involved in making forged marksheets and certificates
Times News Network
Kanpur: Additional district and sessions judge, Kanpur Nagar, Nisha Srivastava on Wednesday dismissed the bail application of accused Nagendra Mani Tripathi, allegedly a member of a gang involved in making forged marksheets and certificates.
The Kidwai Nagar police had uncovered a gang involved in the creation and sale of fake mark sheets and certificates, arresting Nagendra Mani Tripathi and other accused on February 19, 2026.
Additional district government counsel Vinod Tripathi opposing the anticipatory bail application argued that at the time of his arrest forged degrees, mark sheets and other illicit materials were recovered from accused Nagendra Mani Tripathi.
These individuals are engaged in the business of manufacturing and selling fake degrees across the entire country, and they were subsequently arrested. Previously, they had submitted a regular bail application, which was dismissed by this very court.
The ADGC further pleaded that subsequently the Allahabad high court, in a writ petition, quashed the proceedings solely on the grounds that the arrest memo and the remand order were not in accordance with the law, and ordered the release of the accused, Nagendra Mani Tripathi. However, the high court did not offer any comments regarding the merits of the case, nor did it stay the arrest or make any observations concerning the ongoing investigation.
The ADGC submitted that the accused was continuously attempting to influence the evidence. He failed to appear despite being contacted by the investigating officer during the course of the investigation. Under these circumstances, if anticipatory bail were to be granted to him, he would completely compromise the investigation—a situation for which there could be no remedy.
The court deemed this matter to be serious and observed that the issue of fake degrees is rampant across the entire country. Under these circumstances, there were no grounds whatsoever to grant anticipatory bail.
Hence the bail application was being rejected.
The accused Nagendra Mani submitted in his anticipatory bail application that he had not committed any crime and he was innocent. He was walking with his son on February 17,2026 around 10.30 pm near George Town Prayagraj when police picked him up and showed his arrest from Kidwai Nagar Kanpur. Nothing had been recovered from his possession.
He had been released from jail in compliance with an order passed by the Allahabad high court. As the police were attempting to arrest him once again, therefore, he had filed this anticipatory bail application.
