Kesco authorities inspect substations

KANPUR: Managing director of Kanpur Electricity Supply Company (Kesco) Ritu Maheshwari and chief engineer Keshav Ram inspected Harrisganj and Krishna Nagar power sub-stations on Thursday and found that no work was possible in the two sub-stations without involving touts.
The Kesco officials also spoke to the consumers who were present there and recorded there grievances.The consumers complaint that no work could be done without involving touts and greasing the palms of the staff. The consumers said that in the name of allotting a new power connection, the Kesco staff demand bribe from them, without paying which, the fate of the work hangs in balance.
Maheshwari warned the staff to improve their style of functioning. On finding Vishambhar Singh, a senior official, incapable of tackling touts in Harrisganj sub-station, she ordered him to be transferred.
The two then reached Barra sub-station and checked the record and the cash register. They listened to the grievances of the consumers present there.
Maheshwari warned the officials to improve their conduct said that strict action will be taken against them.
