Skipper Shri Dharun slams ton as TN post 269 against UP

Kanpur: Skipper Shri Dharun ST struck a ton to help Tamil Nadu post 269 runs in their first innings against Uttar Pradesh on the opening day of the Vijay Merchant Trophy Under-16 tie at KSCA Navula Stadium in Shimoga. In reply, UP lost opener Ayansh Sanu (4) in the third over and were 13 for 1 when umpires called stumps.Invited to bat first, Tamil Nadu suffered early jolts as UP bowlers reduced them to 60 for 4 in 22 overs. Skipper Dharun then added 61 runs for the fifth wicket with Rishabh Sriram (48), followed by another vital 62-run stand with Pugul Vishnu for the sixth wicket.
For UP, Aryan Tyagi led the bowling attack, claiming the wickets of Dhanvanth (18), Rokith R (0) and Dhashwin (2), while Prithvi Raj Singh dismissed Arya Ganesh. The fifth-wicket stand ended when Rishabh Sriram was run out after scoring 48 off 118 balls, including seven boundaries.Dharun and Pugul's partnership was broken when Aryan Tyagi bowled Pugul for 24 off 56 balls. Dharun later completed his century off 138 balls, hitting 13 fours and two sixes, while adding useful runs with Pooli Chelladurai. He was eventually stumped by Aalok Kumar off Krishna Yadav's bowling.Pooli Chelladurai (25) and Abhishek added 29 runs for the last wicket before Pooli fell to Krishna Yadav.
