KANPUR: Children from small towns bagged the top 10 positions in the UP Combined Pre-Medical Test results declared on Monday. While Isha Singh of Muzaffarnagar topped the list, Bhanu Pratap Maurya of Chandauli stood second.
Similarly, the third position went to Bareilly girl Divya Agawal, fourth to Lokesh Agarwal, fifth to Varanasi boy Dilip Chaurasia, sixth to Samagra Agarwal and eighth to Uday Pratap.
In fact, four among the top 10 position holders have links with Kanpur. Apart from Bhanu, Lokesh, Samgra and Uday had attended various coachings in the city.
A total of 62,319 candidates had appeared for the exam at 135 centres in 15 cities of the state on May 21. Out of the total candidates appeared, 31,245 passed the exam and would now try their luck for 1,500 seats in various medical colleges and universities in the state.
The dates for the counselling would be declared by the Kanpur University after which the students would be able to lock their seats in the prestigious medical institutions.
