UP gets lead against Goa in Col CK Nayudu Trophy

Opener Anjaneya Suryavanshi’s fine century and captain Sameer Chaudhary’s unbeaten knock of 83 runs not only recovered UP from precarious conditions but also provided a comfortable lead against Goa in the first innings in Col C K Nayudu trophy cricket stadium Bangalore on Wednesday.

Kanpur: Opener Anjaneya Suryavanshi’s fine century and captain Sameer Chaudhary’s unbeaten knock of 83 runs not only recovered UP from precarious conditions but also provided a comfortable lead against Goa in the first innings in Col C K Nayudu trophy cricket stadium Bangalore on Wednesday.
UP, which was reeling after losing 4 wickets for just 25 runs, got a firm grip on the match as they scored 260 for 7 in their first innings against Goa’s 179.

Now they have got 81 runs lead with three wickets remaining in the first innings. Sameer would like to collect more runs so that his team could go for a win.

The wicket of Alur cricket stadium behaved differently on the second day. As many as 14 wickets fell on day one. And all were expecting that chasing 179 would be a difficult task but UP lost just three wickets in the whole day.
Anjaneya and Sameer Chaudhary batted with determination keeping their heads down and executed a 170 runs partnership for the fifth wicket which provided UP a significant first-innings lead. Tunish Sawkar broke their partnership claiming the prize wicket of Anjaneya.
Aanjaneya before offering a catch to Ishan faced 177 deliveries and smashed 2 sixes and 13 boundaries in his 115 runs. Captain Sameer Chaudhary batted cautiously and had faced so far 213 deliveries for his unbeaten 83 runs consisting of 10 hits to the fence. In fact, he blocked one end and asked his team mates to go for runs according to their ease. After Anjaneya, Prince Sharma and Aditya Sharma contributed 24 and 10 runs respectively. At close Kritagya Singh was batting on 8 with Sameer Chaudhary. Ruthvik Naik so far emerged as a successful bowler capturing 4 wickets for 41 runs. Tunish and Parab had scalped one wicket each.
