‘Govt sabotaged Wayanad rehabilitation package’

Kochi: BJP on Friday alleged that the state govt sabotaged the Wayanad rehabilitation package. The party state president K Surendran said the opposition is aiding the state govt's negligence through its culpable silence.
He said that even four months after the disaster, the CM did not attempt to call an all-party meeting. "In 2013, it was the UPA govt that removed the term ‘national disaster'. It is pointless for Congress leaders to criticize the Modi govt," he said.
Surendran said that central ministers clarified that assistance will be provided by the central govt based on the extent of the disaster. "However, both the LDF and UDF are currently creating controversies for political gain because of the Palakkad bypoll. The state govt should be prepared to provide a detailed study report to the central govt," he said. TNN
