Heavy rains alert for Kannur, Kasaragod today

Kochi: IMD has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Kannur and Kasaragod on Saturday. Six districts —Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod— are on yellow alert on Sunday and Monday, while Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod are on yellow alert on Tuesday.
Squally weather with wind speeds reaching 35-45kmph, gusting to 55kmph, is likely over many parts of westcentral Arabian Sea, adjoining areas of the eastcentral Arabian Sea, northern parts of southwest Arabian Sea, most parts of south and central Bay of Bengal, along and off Andhra Pradesh coast and the Andaman Sea.
Incois has issued an ocean current watch and high wave watch for Kasaragod, Kannur, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram.
According to the 24-hour rainfall recorded on Friday morning, Muliyar received 7cm, while Peringome got 6cm. Kannur, Pinarayi, Vellarikkundu and Kannur airport received 5cm of rainfall. Taliparamba, Cheruvanchery, Chemberi and Vilangankunnu received 4cm of rainfall.
