Kochi: Two women were arrested on Monday in connection with a human trafficking racket operating under the guise of modelling activities in Maradu. The accused were part of a gang that allegedly lured young women by offering modelling jobs in Dubai and later subjected them to exploitation, police said.Maradu police made the arrests following a complaint by victims. The women were trapped with false promises and taken to Dubai, where they were allegedly confined in secret locations, police said. The victims were forcibly administered narcotic substances and exploited while in an unconscious state, police added. The gang allegedly recorded visuals and photographs to threaten the victims.Police said a larger network is suspected to be operating behind the racket and a detailed investigation was under way. tnn
