KOLKATA: Environment activist Subhas Dutta was allegedly heckled by security guards of Shibpur Botanic Garden on Friday when he was trying to take some photographs.
"There is a case going on in the high court regarding CESC's cable line and I had gone there around 2pm to take snaps of a lightpost and show them to the HC. Suddenly, two men asked me to give them my camera.
When I refused, they tried to snatch it. I went to the police outpost to file a complaint," Dutta said.
He said police did not want to take the complaint. "I contacted the SP after which I could file a GD. The authorities said I had no right to take photographs. But it is a public place," he said.
The Garden director, H S Debnath, said: "We have filed an FIR against him for violating rules. He was taking videography and making nuisance by taking snaps of couples inside the garden. He pushed one of our guards when he tried to ask him as to what he was doing," he said.
