KOLKATA: The AMRI employees’ union toughened its stand on Thursday saying that it will now claim bonus for all employees since 1996. “The management went to the court to dissolve the union but they were defeated and the High Court secured our right to organisation, said union leader ramen Pandey.
State health minister Surjyakanta Mishra advised the management to sort the matter through the state labour department.
“Since it is a labour dispute, things can be better resolved by the labour department, he said.
Mishra had earlier said that trade union leaders bent on creating trouble should be handed over the police. When asked to comment on this, Mishra said: “We don’t change our stand everyday.
Pandey, meanwhile, described the union’s meeting with the labour commissioner as satisfactory. “He was convinced about our claim, Pandey claimed stating that admissions of patients to the hospital were on unhindered. There were 11 admissions on Thursday, he said.
The management of the hospital, however, claimed that they have won a ‘restrictive order’ from the High Court.
“There is no question on revert-ing the suspension orders, he added.
Regarding the demand of bonus since 1996, the authorities said that bonus would be paid according to the provisions of law.
