Bidhannagar, New Town BJP MLAs visit BMC HQ,, discuss cooperation for better services
Kolkata: Bidhannagar BJP MLA Sharadwat Mukherjee and Rajarhat New Town MLA Piyush Kanodia met Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials on Monday to discuss cooperation to improve infrastructure. Key items discussed included poor condition of roads, clogged drainage, parking irregularities and illegal construction. The meeting was framed as a collaborative effort to ensure that political differences do not stall public welfare. "It was a courtesy visit with the BMC authorities as it was instructed to us that there should not be any disruption in civic services. There are some gaps and loopholes in some areas which have been discussed. It has been decided that the three BJP MLAs of Bidhannagar, Rajarhat Gopalpur and Rajarhat New Town, and BMC will cooperate," Mukherjee said. Both sides acknowledged that the township's infrastructure required urgent intervention. Kanodia said: "Monsoon is arriving and work must be taken up so waterlogging can be prevented." Mukherjee also raised concerns regarding structural deviation in multi-storey buildings. "If two-three flats are set up on each floor in G+3 buildings, there will be increase in number of families residing there. The civic authorities have been asked to look into this matter," Mukherjee said.BMC mayor Krishna Chakraborty welcomed the feedback and assured administrative cooperation to improve civic delivery.
