Kolkata: Police have recovered Rs 1.5 crore in connection with an alleged
digital arrest scam, in which a retired bank employee from Regent Park was duped of Rs 4.4 crore. According to police, the victim lodged a complaint at Regent Park Police Station, alleging that fraudsters posing as officials of the CBI and Enforcement Directorate threatened him with arrest and coerced him into transferring money.
Investigators said the victim began transferring funds from April 1 and continued making payments for nearly two months. The fraud came to light after family members alerted the police.
