Hosp-gurdwara tie-up to revive old facility

Kolkata: The Gurudwara Sant Kutiya-run health facility, dormant since 2012, took on a new wing on World Health Day, with the Liver Foundation West Bengal (LFWB) infusing a fresh lease of life. The renovated Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital on DL Khan Road was inaugurated on Monday and will begin with multispecialty OPD and day care services, starting indoor patient services in the next phase."We are fortunate to tie up with the Liver Foundation to revive patient care services," said Avtar Singh, general secretary of Gurudwara Sant Kutiya. Doctors from the Indian Institute of Liver & Digestive Sciences, Sonarpur, will be seeing patients at this facility."Some equipment for imaging and investigation has also been installed," said Partha Sarathi Mukherjee, secretary of LFWB. The inaugural event featured the likes of Ramakrishna Mission assistant secretary Swami Bodhasarananda, CMC Vellore associate director professor Uday G Zachariah, and philanthropist SP Singh Oberoi from Dubai."We are glad that the Gurudwara has given this opportunity," said hepatologist Abhijit Chowdhury of LFWB.
