KOLKATA: Based on the findings of what happened at Netai village on January 7, district intelligence officials have sent specific inputs to camps-in-charge under various police stations in West Midnapore about an impending attack by Maoists and PCPA. The attack, sleuths have warned, may be on the likes of the Silda camp attack as well as the onslaught carried out on Sankrail police station.
Policemen have been asked to ensure area domination following an alert that "CPI (Maoists) activists may attack police or CPM supporters/members/leaders at any opportune moment" and "as elections come nearer, more and more violent clashes (like Netai) may take place."

Officials said that the probe into the carnage have prompted police to make its inquiries at the grass roots. The report adds, "Maoist activists may cause major incidents like the Silda camp attack or Sankrail police station attack. Police Santrash Birodhi Janaganer Committee (People's Committee Against Police Atrocities) and Sidhu Kanu Gana Militia (SKGM) and other frontal organizations backed by CPI (Maoists) activists may cause subversive activities like murder, kidnapping, setting fire on houses, government officers, vehicles and causing damages to roads." According to it, in the run-up to the Netai attack, Maoists have been escalating movement in the area and that they had been up and about 15 or 20 days ahead of the killings on January 7.
The report said, "Large number of arms and ammunition have been collected by CPI (Maoists)/PCPA and SKGM supporters as well as criminals and miscreants supported by various political parties."
