Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Friday recorded the statement of former West Bengal School Service Commission (
SSC) adviser Shanti Prasad Sinha, who deposed that the education minister’s officer on special duty (OSD) P K Banerjee had given him written instructions to personally look into a matter regarding a document.
Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay recorded Sinha’s statement in connection with the alleged irregularities in appointing six maths teachers in Murshidabad.
Replying to another question, Sinha submitted he had referred at least 200 cases to the SSC committee set up by the state to oversee teacher recruitment in 2016.
The court admonished Sinha for giving contradictory answers to questions on several occasions. Justice Gangopadhyay also warned Sinha against making “false statements” in court. He observed there was no other option than a CBI investigation and fixed the next hearing for March 25.
