KOLKATA: BD Memorial Institute celebrated Independence Day by organising a programme called Moti Aur Manian Meri Dharti Ki in association with Times NIE.
The event saw the participation of students, their parents and teachers from all nine branches.
The events included Bujho to Jano, a quiz based on the school's history. Usha Mehta, director and administrator, said: "This time, we have included events such as quiz and debate."
Some of the other events were Kaho to Azad Huye Yeah, Parchiyaan and antakshari, Meri Dhun Teri Lay.
The programme was judged by designer Perin Pombra and theatre personalities Rohit Pombra and Usha Ganguly, among others.
Parents organized a tiffin exhibition while students of Classes IX to XII held a poster campaign on the ills of drugs and smoking. Heart specialist Dr Sunip Banerjee gave tips on healthy living.
Gameshows were also held at the school for parents of pre-primary students.
