Z security likely for Sourav Ganguly

KOLKATA: Former Indian cricket team skipper and BCCI chief, Sourav Ganguly, is likely to be provided with Z category security by the state, sources said on Tuesday. Ganguly enjoys Y+ category security at present.
Even as Ganguly was busy in Delhi for IPL, senior officers from special branch, Thakurpukur Police and two traffic guards held a detailed meeting with his secretary on Tuesday.
Neither the state administration nor Kolkata Police could ascertain the reason behind the security beef-up. Ganguly had been accorded Z security status almost two decades ago after the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba had threatened to kidnap him.
