Blast case accused gets party post
Kannur: CPM has courted controversy by appointing an accused in the 2024 Panoor bomb blast, which claimed the life of a youth, as secretary of the party branch committee. Amal Babu, one among the 12 accused in the case, has been made the secretary of CPM Meethale Kunnothparamba branch committee. The new secretary was appointed after the current secretary resigned from the post owing to personal reasons. CPM had suspended Babu from the party following his alleged involvement in the sensational bomb blast, which happened during bomb making at a house which was under construction in Panoor. However, he was reinstated after the party inquiry committee found that he was innocent.DYFI worker Sherin, a native of Muliyathod in Panoor, had died in the explosion held on April 5, 2024. Three people sustained injuries in the incident.
