Kozhikode/T'puram: KPCC president
Sunny Joseph on Monday rejected
CPM secretary M V Govindan's allegation that Congress had helped Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, who is facing sexual assault allegations, to go into hiding.
Joseph said that if Govindan knew the location, then he would also join the CPM leader in finding the MLA.
Asked whether Congress would seek Mamkootathil's resignation if he was arrested, Joseph said that the issue can be handled like in the case of CPM MLA M Mukesh.
On whether Congress has already sought Palakkad MLA's resignation, Joseph said there was no such precedent.
The KPCC chief said that gold theft at Sabarimala was far more serious than the Mamkootathil case. He also alleged that it was CPM's ploy in diverting public attention from the Sabarimala gold case.
Mamkootathil submits more ‘evidence' in court
Meanwhile, in a related development, Mamkootathil on Monday is learned to have submitted additional evidence in the rape case before Thiruvananthapuram district court.
The material reportedly includes photographs, hash value certificates of WhatsApp chats and recordings of phone conversations. The evidence was reportedly handed over in sealed covers as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
