Kozhikode: The reception accorded to Puthu Yuga Yatra at Kuttiadi saw commotion and on-stage disagreement with Vadakara MP Shafi Parambil expressing his displeasure allegedly over the delay in inviting him to address the gathering.
UDF convener Adoor Prakash, Kozhikode MP M K Raghavan and IUML leader Parakkal Abdulla spoke, before local leader Pramod Kakkattil, who was presiding over the function, invited opposition leader V D Satheesan to speak.
However, people on the dais demanded that Parambil be invited to speak. When Kakkattil approached the microphone following the demand, Parambil pulled him back creating a confusion on the stage.
Parambil was reportedly upset over the delay in being invited to speak.
A minor commotion followed on stage, after which Satheesan proceeded with his speech.
Later, after Satheesan's address, Kakkattil invited Parambil to speak. Saying that he would not speak at length, Parambil concluded his remarks in a single line: "I tell the leader of the opposition - when you count beyond a hundred, make sure to count Kuttiadi as well."
However, Congress leaders said that that no resentment was expressed at the event. They said that as the reception meeting had been delayed, Parambil himself had said that there was no need to call him to speak further.
