Trains carrying 1,517 migrant workers leave Kerala for Bihar and Madhya Pradesh

KOZHIKODE: Two trains carrying 1,517 migrant workers left for Bihar and Madhya Pradesh from Kozhikode on Wednesday night. The first train with 1,186 migrant workers left for Katihar of Bihar from Kozhikode railway station at 5pm. The second train with 331 migrant workers left for Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh after 8pm.
The district administration brought the migrant workers residing in the limits of four taluks of Kozhikode, Vadakara, Koyilandy, and Thamarassery in Kozhikode by 52 specially arranged KSRTC buses to the railway station.

They were given drinking water bottles and food before boarding the train. The respective states will arrange quarantine facilities for the migrants once they reach their native places.
A team led by district collector Sambasiva Rao, sub-collector G Priyanka, DCP Chaithra Theresa John, deputy collector Anitha Kumari supervised the entire operations involved in the return journey of the migrant workers to their native places.
