Kozhikode: The Union ministry of road transport and highways has notified the toll rates for the Vengalam–Ramanattukara stretch of National Highway-66. The toll collection is likely to begin this week after publishing in the media. A trial run had begun the other day at the Pantheerankavu toll plaza.
When toll collection begins, FASTag will be given priority. Vehicles without FASTag will be charged an additional 0.25% if payment is made via UPI, while those paying in cash will be charged double the toll amount.
Light motor vehicles, including cars, owned by residents permanently residing within a 20km radius of the Olavanna toll plaza will be eligible for a monthly pass priced at Rs 340. Holders of this pass can cross the Olavanna toll plaza any number of times during the one-month validity period. The pass will be issued at the toll plaza upon submission of the required documents.
A FASTag annual pass priced at Rs 3,000 is also available, allowing vehicles to pass through any toll plaza in India up to 200 times. For return journeys made within 24 hours, only half the toll amount needs to be paid.
Commercial vehicles registered in Kozhikode district and equipped with FASTag (excluding national permit vehicles) are eligible for a 50% discount. The toll contract has been awarded to Hule Constructions based in Maharashtra.
