LUCKNOW: Four cops were suspended for laxity following Friday's incident in which a violent group attacked UP Congress Committee headquarters at Mall Avenue. Station house officer of Hussainganj police station Ram Pradeep Yadav besides cops from the local police outpost were held responsible for failure to handle the situation.
In the action taken report submitted by local administration before Election Commission on Saturday, the district magistrate and senior superintendent of police collectively pinned the blame for the entire episode on in charge of Qila police outpost sub-inspector Ashok Kumar Ojha, head constable
Umesh Yadav and constable Vijay Yadav besides inspector Ram Pradeep Yadav.
On Saturday, the 16 persons arrested were remanded to 14-day judicial custody till April 11. Cops had pressed dacoity charges against members of Bundelkhand Adhikar Sena who were led by Brij Bhushan Singh Rajput alias Guddu to the party office. Two females were also part of the group arrested. Local cops had an inkling about the large turnout but failed to deploy force in advance.

Dinesh Yadav examined the footage capturing the incident and said efforts were underway to identify the remaining accused persons. Cops had relayed message on wireless on Friday noon after the violence and managed to nab the supporters who were fleeing in SUVs near VVIP guest house and Golf Club crossing. Six motor vehicles had been seized.
