LUCKNOW: Three Lucknow University professors, who were part of the 109th Indian Science
Congress (ISC) held in the university in 2002, have been tasked with managing the event scheduled to be held in the university again in January next year.
LU vice-chancellor Prof Alok Kumar Rai has appointed zoology faculty Prof SP Trivedi as organising secretary of the event while Prof Poonam Tandon of physics department and Prof Geetanjali Mishra of zoology department were made secretaries.
This would be the third-time Trivedi will be part of the science congress. Earlier, Trivedi had participated as LU PhD scholar in 1985 and as an LU faculty in 2002.
"I still remember the lectures and scientists I had met in the last two meets. In 1985, I was part of the congress as a scholar and got the opportunity to listen to lecture of scientist Autar Singh Paintal the then director of Vallabh Bhai Patel Chest Institute," said Trivedi.
He said: "In 2002 I made some scientists stay at my home to ensure that they had a comfortable stay."
Prof Poonam said: "In 2002 I was a faculty but like a curious student I made sure to visit the science exhibition held on the campus. I can vouch that these exhibitions are the most advanced in terms of science and technology and are a great learning opportunity not only for students but also for teachers."
Prof Geetanjali Mishra said: "In 2002, I was a newly enrolled research scholar and while passing by Lal Baradari I found great scientist Prof APJ Abdul Kalam sitting at Baradari. It was the most memorable day of my life."
