Alvida protest: Nine cases of rioting lodged

As per police reports, total of 24 Acts of Indian Penal Code were pressed in 19 cases registered against several persons, for violence which took place in the city on Juma Alvida or the last Friday of Ramzan.

LUCKNOW: Total nine cases were registered against unknown persons for attempt to murder and causing riots with deadly weapon, while one case was registered against Shamil Shamsi and Maulana Amir Haidar for disobedience and creating situation of riot during protest march on Friday.
As per police reports, total of 24 Acts of Indian Penal Code were pressed in 19 cases registered against several persons, for violence which took place in the city on Juma Alvida or the last Friday of Ramzan.

Setting vehicles on fire, damaging public property, deadly assault on police personnel and snatching service revolvers from three cops were reported in the violent incident in which one person was killed and several protesters were seriously injured besides four police personnel.
According to senior officials “no weapon has been recovered yet and charges of dacoity, assaulting public servant and preventing him from discharging his duty, use of explosive substance with intent to cause damage to public property and creating riot with deadly weapon has been registered against unknown persons.”
The FIRs were registered in Chowk and Wazirganj police stations of old Lucknow.
