LUCKNOW: Two police personnel and a homeguard were attacked by violent miscreants in two separate incidents on Friday.
In the first incident that occurred on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, a police constable and homeguard out on night patrol duty in a residential colony off Raibareli road were attacked by a duo. Posted at PGI police station, constable Parshuram along with homeguard Akhilesh were on patrol duty when they spotted two suspicious persons near Eldeco police outpost.
As the two suspects tried to flee, Parshuram and Akhilesh tried to overpower them. However, the two picked up a boulder and attacked Parshuram and Akhilesh with it. One of them pulled out a country-made firearm to threaten the duo and managed to free his aide who had been overpowered.
The local police station was informed and additional force arrived. The two miscreants however managed to escape. Parshuram and Akhilesh were rushed to civil hospital where they are undergoing treatment. A case against the miscreants was registered under attempt to murder charges.
In the other incident, traffic constable Lalji Saroj was attacked by a group of youths near IT crossing. Around 7.40pm, Saroj was manning IT crossing when a bike rider identified as Atul Shukla rammed into a car and the two parties had a heated argument as Shukla was on the wrong side. Other motorists also got stuck in the jam at which Saroj tried to intervene. Offended at this, Shukla directed his anger at Saroj. He called up his friends and the group later manhandled Saroj at the busy crossing. The violent group also tore Saroj’s uniform partially during the audacious attack.
By the time the police arrived, Shukla and his aides had managed to escape. In the hurry, Shukla left behind his motorcycle which was seized and taken to Hasanganj police station.
A case was registered against Shukla and other unidentified persons under IPC sections 323 (causing hurt), 147 (rioting), 332 and 353 (use of force to deter public servant), 427 (causing damage) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
