Corporators go berserk at nagar palika meet in Bahraich

BAHRAICH: Corporators, belonging to opposition parties, went berserk at a meeting convened by Bahraich Nagar Palika chairman to review ongoing development projects. They damaged the palika property and threatened to set ablaze the office if their demands were not accepted by the chairman.

before anybody could understand anything corporators ramanand gupta, maksood ahmed, mohd ishar alias master mijjan, rayees ahmed and mumtaj ali alias chhabboo started misbehaving with the chairman. in the meantime, bharatiya janata party (bjp) corporators pradeep kumar sahu, rangnath shukla, vivek agarwal, akhilendra and anand kumar rushed to the rescue of the chairman. this irked the opposition corporators and they started hurling paper weights and other items at supporters of the chairman. after about 15 minutes, bjp corporators managed to open the doors of the hall. they immediately informed the matter to palika officials who rushed to the hall and rescued the chairman from the clutches of opposition corporators. when contacted, the executive officer (eo) of the nagar palika said that he had recommended action against corporators ashok balmiki, mumtaj ali, mohd ishar, rayees ahmed and ramanand gupta. tehsil diwas: of the 150 applications received on the tehsil day at kaiserganj 23 were disposed off on the spot. it was presided over by district magistrate n prasad.
