Court awards life imprisonment to 50-year-old rapist

LUCKNOW: A local court on Saturday awarded life imprisonment to a rapist, who is a father of two children and further imposed a fine of Rs 9,000. Additional sessions judge Hari Nath Pandey said, "Rape is a direct assault on body as well as mind of a lady. It assassins character of a lady and leaves her to suffer for entire life with a blot."
According to additional district government counsel RP Acharya, the mother of the victim, lodged an FIR on February 8, 2011 with Gosainganj police station that on the fateful day she had gone for work under MGNREGS and her daughter Rani (name changed) was alone at home.She said that Rani was enticed away by Radheyshyam and the she also took away ornaments with her. Later Rani was recovered by police after one month. The victim narrated trauma, which she underwent during the rape. The police hence filed chargesheet against Radheyshyam.
"The accused was as old as 50 years and he committed rape on a 13-year-old girl for one month .The incident is such that the accused is not entitled for any sympathy," said the court.
