Ex-corporator held under Gangster Act

LUCKNOW: The Kaiserbagh police on Wednesday arrested former Bhartiya Janata Party corporator Atul Agarwal along with five others under the Gangsters Act after they were found gambling in Kaiserbagh.

LUCKNOW: The Kaiserbagh police on Wednesday arrested former Bhartiya Janata Party corporator Atul Agarwal along with five others under the Gangsters Act after they were found gambling in Kaiserbagh.
The police also recovered an imported 32 bore pistol from the possession of Atul, whose name had recently figured in a series of kidnapping cases.
Inspector in-charge of Kaiserbagh police station, OP Tripathi, said that acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house in Model House area and nabbed Atul along with Shyamu of Baisi Ki Masjid area, Nehal Pervez alias Taju, Siraj Mohammed of Kakori Kothi and Sanjay Agarwal of Model House area and Mohd Haneef, a Chowk resident.

Taju is a listed criminal with the Kaiserbagh police.
Tripathi said Atul was arrested by the Talkatora police in connection with a case of dacoity and recently released from jail. Earlier, his name had figured in the Dr Deepak Agarwal kidnapping case of Allahabad, in which the criminals were arrested in Lucknow. His name had also figured in the attempted kidnapping of a scientific store owner in Kaiserbagh where the kidnappers had been called from outside Lucknow .
